After the thorough cleaning of the area, we exposed completely the new level (US 5063) reached after the work of the backhoe. It was also possible to identify the fills of some graves, most of them with a sediment made of silt and sand, with a brown and grey colour, characterized by many small rocks and gravel. Apparently we can observe two different layouts and shapes of the tombs: the ones further north are big, large, with a rectangular shape and appear to be arranged on a single row, following the graves identified in the Sector A of Area 2000 last season. Starting from about the central part of the area and proceeding south, the tombs appear to be smaller, very close to each other and located on two parallel lines. Are these two different cemetery stages? Only with further investigation we will be able to answer this question…
