Today we opened the two new graves in area 5000 already exposed the past days. One of them (US 5074) located in the central western side of the area, is filled by a silty sand layer with a brown coloration full of small rocks and gravel. In the south eastern corner of the cut we found a second fill in a rectangular shaped interface (US 5106) made of a silty and dark sediment. Since we didn’t find anything inside we can only assume that this hole has been made for the deposition of a small coffin with the same technique used for the burials of the infants found very close but in the south-eastern corner of the area. Something similar is coming out from the other grave we are still digging (US 5081). Tomorrow we’ll be able to complete the excavation of this feature and the documentation of the whole area in view of the closure of this archaeological season.
